Memories they won’t forget.

We understand that organising a school camp can be hard, but we believe that camp is such a special time for the growth of your students, giving them experiences and memories they won’t forget. We want to make this process as easy for you as possible so we have collated some of our frequently asked questions and info we think you need to know below.

If you need any more help please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly staff!

School Camp FAQ.

  • Start your camp process by having a look through our website, and then filling out our bookings enquiry form. From there our bookings administrator will get in touch with you to organise dates, suitable accommodation, catering options and help you pick some activities. Once sorted you will be provided with a quote and be put in contact with our hosting team leader who will work with you to finalise your programme and make sure sure your camp is ready to go!

Once you get to camp our hosting team leader will greet you and will be your point person for the duration of your stay if you need anything and to help your camp run smoothly!

After camp the hosting team will work with you to finalise your numbers and you will be provided with a final invoice.

  • Our activities are split into two groups, self-instructed or instructor provided activities.

Self-Instructed Activities: These activities are safe to be lead by your team of teachers and parent helpers. The hosting team leader will provide any training required to run activities upon arrival at camp.

Instructor provided activities: These activities must be run by one of our trained Lakes Ranch staff. Their training is regularly refreshed and updated if necessary. We still require a parent/teacher to be with the activity group to aid with the control of the students during the activity time.

Our activities are designed for an optimum group size of 10-12 students with 1-2 parent helpers per group for an hour duration.

If it looks like it will be raining during your stay our hosting team will work with you to organise alternative activities, however we think that any kid can still have a great time kayaking or playing on the slip’n’slide even if its wet, just send them to the spa to warm up afterwards!

  • We provide different catering options depending on what you prefer!

Catered: We have a very experienced camp cook who caters for our camps. She is great at providing healthy, delicious meals and can cater to most dietary requirements!*

If you choose the catered option for your camp, you will be provided with a menu to choose your meals for the duration of your stay (With desert every night, of course!)

Self-Catered: If you choose to self cater you will have complete access to our catering kitchen, complete with 3 combi-ovens. Our hosting team will give you a quick run down when you arrive of how things work and will be available during camp if you run into any problems or have any questions!

*Due to the nature of our kitchen we cannot cater to coeliac as we cannot guarantee no contamination of meals. However our self catered kitchen downstairs is perfect for self-preparation or storage of food for coeliacs where no cross-contamination can be guaranteed. We do not cater for complex dietary requirements such as vegan, halal etc but are able to provide dairy free, gluten free (non-coeliac) and nut free options.

  • Unless by prior arrangement our hosting team don’t run activities after 5pm. Our indoor barn space has lighting, making it the perfect space to run team building exercises or play games after dinner, or head out to the burma trail and the glow worms for an evening activity. Sitting and watching a movie in the spa or relaxing around the campfire is also a great way to spend your evening as a group!

  • When you arrive at camp, you will be greeted by our friendly hosting team who will help you unload gear and get settled. Before sorting students into rooms, the hosting team will run your group through a quick health and safety chat, explaining a few rules and expectations to your group for their stay.

Your head teacher will be provided with a radio to contact the hosting team leader during work hours, and their mobile number and wifi code to contact them outside of work hours.

  • During camp it is your groups responsibility to maintain cleanliness of facilities. Usually groups have a quick duties roster that gets done everyday that consists of:

    • Toilet clean

    • Toast and breakfast set up

    • Dishes

    • Dining room set up

    • Dining room clear

The Lakes Ranch hosting team will make sure all cleaning supplies and bathroom products (Toilet paper, hand towels, soap etc) is all fully stoked during your stay. If you notice something needs refilling just let them know and they will sort it as soon as possible.

  • After camp it is time for clean up, which can take up to two hours, so make sure to programme in plenty of time for this. Our hosting team will be working with you to provide guidance and cleaning supplies. If you need to travel far, or have to leave camp earlier in the day this is no problem! Just make sure this is communicated with Lakes Ranch staff and they can take over the clean up at whatever stage you get to.
